I recently shot a gorgeous Spring Wedding at The Barns at Hunsbury Hill, Northamptonshire. This venue oozes rustic charm and is the perfect venue if you want a magical barn wedding with a relaxed and intimate vibe for your big day. Nestled on a hillside overlooking the Northamptonshire countryside it was the ideal spot for some golden hour snaps too and, even though it was April, the golden hour did not disappoint!

The staff here were lovely (this goes a long way in my book!) and the whole day was full of happiness, laughter and good vibes only! 

The main barn with exposed wooden beams and stone walls is the perfect canvas to dress up or dress down – it would really suit any style of décor. On this occasion, the barn was draped with white flowers and white blossom trees complete with fairy lights. It was like a little pocket of magic! 

The staff then performed an impressive turnaround to dress the barn for the wedding breakfast which meant the newley weds and all their nearest and dearest could enjoy drinks and canapes in the Courtyard. Complete with a covered terrace providing ample shade, an outdoor bar, plenty of grass for little ones to enjoy – there was something for everyone. 

Although small, the venue is like a little treasure trove for photographic opportunities. With some buildings on site dating back to 1776, the backdrops were endless.

Then came the evening celebrations. A Saxaphonist, a live band, a DJ. Say no more. I was as happy as could be capturing the crazy dance floor antics. With the giant glass surround barn doors left open, the barn remained at the perfect temperature – no sweaty shots at this wedding. The guests were able to wander (or should I stay stagger?!) from the dance floor across the courtyard to the onsite pizza truck – then back to the bar and then back to the dance floor again, with plenty of seating dotted around the Courtyard to break up their arduous journey should they need it! This indoor / outdoor bonus is what you want for a magical barn wedding and I’d been keen to shoot there again simply because of its versatility as a venue.
